Oewerzicht Farm is a fully operational farm, harvesting apples, pears, broccoli and cauliflower for most of the year. The rest of the farm consists of rolling wheat lands, large flocks of sheep and if you are lucky, you’ll also see a herd of Reebok roaming freely on the farm. Birdwatchers will also be delighted to see blue cranes, secretary birds, and large flocks of guinea fowl. Guests are welcome to hike the trails on the farm or bring mountain bikes along to enjoy the magnificent scenery through the orchards. Bikes can also be rented in the village.
Oewerzicht has 6 Stone Cottages with communal kitchen area on the banks of the Sonderend Riverand communal wood-fired hot tub. Oewerzicht houses three farm style cottages situated about 50 meters from the river- Bergzicht, Welgeleë and Citrus. There are also four cottages (Uitsig Cottages) on the hill situated about 300 meters from the river, with panoramic views of the Riviersonderend mountain range.
Sunday nights are blocked out as we cannot do a Sunday check-in. The unit is available to book and stay over weekends and request later check-outs on a Sunday.
Children will have a wonderful time on the farm with its stretch-out lawns, and guests are welcome to bring their well-behaved dogs (max 1 per cottage, or 2 small dogs, but only on arrangement) along to the self-catering units (unfortunately no pets allowed at the campsite or tents).
Farm Cottages (3) – Bergzicht, Welgeleë and Citrus. These Cottages are 50 m from the river and all have verandahs with magnificent views. Bergzicht and Welgeleë are semi-detached and both have a single room with a queen size bed and two single beds in the living area that share a bathroom.
Citrus Cottage has 2 double beds and two single beds in 2 separate bedrooms that share a bathroom, and a small separate cottage with a queen size bed and bathroom. This cottage sleeps altogether 8 people. All the cottages have a braai area outside as well as inside, but Citrus has an inside fireplace. Safari Tents (6) – situated on the riverbank. Each tent has a double bed, en-suite bathroom, bar fridge, kettle and a stoep and private braai area. There is a fully equipped communal kitchen with an inside braai, dining and lounge area. There is also a communal outdoor wood-fired hot tub free to use.
If you enjoy fishing you can bring your rods and spinners and try and catch some blue gill or bass, carp and barbers (catch and release).
Uitsig Cottages (4) on a hill with fantastic panoramic views of the mountain and surroundings! These cottages are situated 300 m from the river (opposite the campsite) and there is a communal plunge pool. These cottages consist of two separate rooms: one with a queen size bed and en-suite, and one with two single beds and a separate bathroom. There are braai areas in- and outside, and an open plan kitchen and lounge area.
Uitsig 4 has its very own outdoor wood-fired hot tub built in the patio with amazing views
We provide bedding, towels, crockery, cutlery and a bag of firewood (R20 per crate if you need extra) Please bring your own food, swimming towels, matches, firelighters & a grid if staying in the campsite.
Six (6) Newly renovated Stone Cottages (situated on the banks of the Sonderend river)
There are 6 units in total with a communal kitchen in the middle.The Stone cottages come with a King size bed, all with en-suite bathrooms and fire places. Other features include a bar refrigerator, heater and fan, a comfortably sized veranda overlooking the river and a braai area.
There is a fully equipped communal kitchen with an indoor braai area,dining and lounge for safari tent guests.
The Stone Cottage area has its own communal wood-fired hot tub in front of the kitchen area which is perfect for a group of friends or just to relax in and unwind.
Uitsig cottage number 1 & 4, as well as Welgelee have a wood-fired hot tub on the patio with amazing views of the Riviersonderend mountain range.
Oewerzicht provides bedding, towels, firewood (R20/bag),ice (R15/bag) as well as a braai grid.
Please bring your own food, swimming towels, fire lighters and matches.
