Old Potter’s Inn Craft beers – MADE FROM FRESH MOUNTAIN SPRING WATER

SAISON – “Plaas Japie” – (IBU’s 19.8, EBC 11.9, abv 5%)
In the French speaking farmlands of Belgium, farmers used to brew special ale for their workers towards the end of winter. Once the harvest was completed at the end of summer, this special seasonal (“Saison”) beer was served at the end of a hard days’ labour. A Saison’s yeast is extremely vigorous creating a very dry, thirst quenching beer. In addition, subtle spice and orange peel lingers on the palate. This beer is purposefully not filtered to give it its authentic peasant beer style. As a result, shelf life is somewhat reduced to 3-6 months, if refrigerated, from the brewing date (visible on bottleneck label).

PALE ALE – “City Slicker” – (IBU’s 34.1, EBC 15.2, abv 4.5%)
This is our entry level sessional ale. Specially crafted from our locally sourced Overberg barley, this ale is straw colored, with a malt profile reminiscent of freshly baked bread. The bitterness and aroma are from American hops, grown along the rivers of Oregon State. Enjoy, my friend, and when you are finished, have another! This beer is filtered to give excellent clarity and a longer shelf life,  especially if refrigerated, lasting about 6 months from brewing date (visible on bottleneck label).

IPA – “Flower Child” – (IBU’s 91, EBC 17, abv 5.5%) This ale is mostly about HOPS. According to beer mythology, India Pale Ale was specially brewed in England to be shipped over to the landed gentry working in India in the 1700’s. Hops (a known preservative) were added in abundance to cover the long sea journey. On top of a substantial malt backbone, we have added a rich mixture of hops from Germany and the USA. Lastly, we add in local hops from George to give a fresh fruity/floral aroma. This beer is filtered to give excellent clarity and a longer shelf life,  especially if refrigerated, lasting about 6 months from brewing date (visible on bottleneck label).
AMBER ALE – “Rooinek” – (IBU’s 26. EBC 32, abv 5%) – This copper-red ale is mostly about MALT; in addition to our homegrown Overberg barley, we have added specially malted grains from Belgium and Germany. The beer has a rich biscuit and caramel flavor with a lasting sweet aftertaste. Hops are added in to create subtle balancing bitterness.  This beer is filtered to give excellent clarity and a longer shelf life,  especially if refrigerated, lasting about 6 months from brewing date (visible on bottleneck label).
