Greyton

Greyton has three boutique wine producers on its doorstep. Andy Mitchell Wines produces lovely garagiste-style wines, while Lismore Estate Vineyards, with Californian winemaker Samantha O’Keefe at the helm, turns out classic cool climate wines which are rich, complex and lovingly hand-crafted, while Swallow Hill produces Tempranillo and Viognier.  Contact our Greyton Information Bureau to arrange a tasting on the farms or enjoy them at our restaurants.  You can also buy it at the Village Vinos, The Oak & Vigne and The OK Mini Store.

Andy Mitchell Wines

Andy Mitchell Wines is a ‘Garagiste’ wine producer based in Greyton. The wines are currently produced from grapes sourced from selected quality vineyards in the Helderberg and Bamboesvlei areas. The first vintage was produced in 2003, when a Syrah called ‘Breakfast Rock’ was made. The wine was named after the highest point of the Greyton to McGregor trail, which starts very close to the cellar. The maiden vintage won a Veritas Silver award on it’s first outing in the 2005 Veritas Competition. Read more here… http://www.andymitchellwines.com/OurStory.html

Lismore Wine Estate

Tucked into the foothills of a dramatic mountain range at the bottom of Africa is Lismore Estate Vineyards. Californian Samantha O’Keefe has found paradise and the perfect terroir. Her passion combined with vines planted at 300 meters, chilled by the winter snow and nourished by the African summer sun, produce classic cool climate wines which are rich, complex and lovingly hand crafted.  Read more here… http://www.lismore.co.za/

Swallow Hill Vineyard and Winery

We are Dianne and Brian Dawes from the UK, now farming grapes and making wines in South Africa.  We planted our vines in 2008 to 2010 and we now have one hectare (3000) Tempranillo vines and one hectare (3000) Viognier vines.  Our gently sloping vineyard faces north-east towards the beautiful Riviersonderend mountain range just 8 km outside Greyton in the Western Cape.  We farm organically and make our wines as naturally as possible.  Our aim is to produce 10 – 12000 bottles per year from our own vines in our cellar, which is located underneath our home. We chose Tempranillo and Viognier for a variety of reasons.  Read more here… http://www.swallowhill.co.za/
