MOUNTAIN BIKING IN GREYTON

The mountain biking options in and around Greyton have increased dramatically in the last year thanks to a small band of enthusiasts who have built, cleared and marked many kilometres of track.

Greyton is a wonderful place for a mountain biking weekend: There are several routes to ride; stunning scenery; a range of accommodation to choose from and those who are not so energetic always find plenty to do in our beautiful village. Bikes may be hired at High Hopes Bed and Breakfast, Rockhopper Adventures or at The Post House.

There are several enthusiastic mountain bikers who are always keen to share their local knowledge of the trails, and for those training and wanting to ride distance, there are many district roads that are safe and scenic. If you want to go for a doddle with the kids check out the Rockhopper Forest for real fun riding without the hills!

Several farms allow riding on their tracks by prior arrangement and some major cycling events take place each year in the area, the Greyton MTB Classic, Dirtopia MTB Festival, The Greyton Tour and Genadendal Mission MTB and trail run.

Join the locals for weekend rides!

2 hours of MTB for all, leaving from the Oak & Vigne Saturday and Sunday at 7.00am (during summer) – Explore the trails with the locals. It’s usually pretty easy going and depends on who rocks up and we can split the group if riding needs are different. Everyone welcome! Call Tristram on 082 852 4366 or check the notice board next to the trail map at the Oak & Vigne. Like the Greyton MTB facebook page

CYCLING IN GREYTON

Whether a 'Sunday-cyclist' – a past-time that usually includes children and dogs in the mix – or someone who enjoys the vicarious thrill of pitting themselves against the best (or should that be worst?) that an MTB track has to offer, Greyton is the place to pedal your stuff.

If you enjoy taking long, lazy, meandering rides around the town, or the challenge of climbing lung-bursting tracks for the reward of unparalleled views in every direction, we have just the route for you.

Pop along to our office in Main Road where you will find an MTB board mounted on the outside wall showing the various well-maintained routes available. In addition, someone is always on hand during office hours to answer your queries.
