This river lodge offers six luxury tents and seven farm style cottages on the banks of the Sonderend River. We have six luxury tents on the banks of the Sonderend River. Four of these come with a queen-size bed and two with two single beds, all with en suite bathrooms. Other features include a bar refrigerator, coffee- and tea-making facilities, a heater or fan, a comfortably appointed veranda overlooking the river and a braai area. There is a full equipped communal kitchen with an indoor braai area for guests staying in the tents.

Some 50 m from the river are three farm-style cottages - Citrus, Bergzicht and Welgeleë.
Citrus has two double beds (not in separate rooms) and a small cottage at the back with two single beds and a bathroom. Citrus offers accommodation for six guests and has a fireplace, an outside braai area and a good-sized veranda for entertaining.

Bergzicht and Welgeleë are semi-detached. Both have one bedroom with a double bed and two single beds in the living area. These cottages have indoor and outdoor braai areas, as well as lovely and spacious verandas. Each cottage is able to accommodate four guests.

About 300 m from the river on a small hill are the four Uitsig Cottages with panoramic views of the Riviersonderend mountain range. Each cottage has a living room, two bedrooms (one with double bed, one with two single beds), a separate bathroom and indoor as well as outdoor braai facilities. The cottages share a communal plunge pool.

We love children and pets. We provide bedding, towels, a crate of firewood (R20 per crate if you need extra) and a grid. Please bring your own food, swimming towels and fire lighters.

We also have a spacious, stone-clad LAPA only a few metres from the river bank for weddings, conferences and private functions. The lapa can accommodate 25 delegates for a conference and about 80 guests for weddings. The farm has a free-form (stretch) tent that can be used for weddings with more than 80 guests.

One of the features of the farm is the suspension bridge over the Sonderend River. This is the only way, other than by boat or float, that guests can get from the main farm area to the luxury tents.

The river is the focal point for most farm activities, such as swimming, fishing (blue gill or bass on a catch and release basis - bring your own rod and spinners), tractor tubing, canoeing and so on. The farm is also ideal for hiking, cycling, bird-watching and more.

Oewerzicht requires a two-night booking on weekends during the summer months. In winter one-night bookings are accepted, although R100 will be added to the rates quoted below. One-night bookings are accepted from Sunday to Thursday nights at the normal rate.
