So put on your dancing shoes, come do the Tango, the real one, or your own interpretation, be it “sakkie-sakkie” or “lang-arm”, or come and sit back “on the Vigne side” and listen to the unbelievable rhythms of one of the best Tango Ensembles in the country.
The Cape Town Tango Ensemble, started by Stanislav Anguelov, specialize in Argentinean Tango ranging from the old fashioned Classical Tango style from the first half of the 20th century up to the present day Tango “Nuevo”. They released their CD “El Tango en Africa” a few years ago and have become very popular on the South African Tango dance scene. The Trio consists of Stanislav Anguelov (accordion & bandoneon), Jacek Domagala (violin) and Albert Combrik (piano)
The Oak & Vigne Courtyard will be transformed into a carnival-like venue with food and drinks for sale, and the restaurant will also host the presentation of the Rose Exhibition prizes.

MUSIC AT THE OAK & VIGNE - PIANO BEN FROM 11:00 TO 15:00 ON SATURDAY
Overberg legend “Piano Ben” will be performing at the Oak & Vigne Café between 11 am and 15h00 on Saturday, providing “cool” background music for diners. Dont miss this very special concert! Compiled as an ode to nature by Greyton's favourite opera divas, Kathy Neuland and Lente Louw. This soprano and mezzo duo will perform a concert of opera arias, duets and Lieder, "scented" around roses, flowers and springtime.
Lyric soprano Lente Louw a former student of Werner Nel and Emma Renzi, established herself in Potchefstroom as a Lieder interpreter and also in a variety of opera roles. Mezzo soprano Kathy Neuland studied at Stellenbosch University and the Julliard School of music in New York and has performed as a soloist with the Stellenbosch University Orchestra and the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra.
Book your seats now and feast your senses on these glorious voices, a tasting of rose wine and an exhibition of exquisite jewellery. Tickets are R60-00 for students, pensioners, children and R80-00 for everyone else.
CLASSICAL MUSIC AT THE DRC HALL, SATURDAY 15h30
"Relax and Smell the Roses", a programmme of Classical Music at the Dutch Reformed Church. Mark Spence on Organ and Paul Williams on Clarinet
Mark Spence is 19 years old and began studying the piano at the age of 7. At 12 he won a music scholarship to Bishops College and is now at UCT studying Piano under Prof. Fitch and is also studying for a BSc in Engineering.
He has played piano with the Cape Town Philharmonic and had a recent debut at the Baxter Concert Hall.
Paul Williams has been playing the Clarinet since a teenager in London and in the fifties he studied under the principal clarinet player of the Royal Philharmonic, Basil Tchaikov. He served his national service in the Band of the Greenjackets among who’s duties was the occasional Banquet and Garden Party for the Queen and Queen Mother. In the nineteen sixties he moved to South Africa and played second clarinet in the Natal Philharmonic and the (then) Salisbury Philharmonic in Rhodesia. He has played many types of music part time since then including four years with the Jonny Cooper Big Band.
There is a fifty year age difference between these two musicians which will illustrate that music is a great leveller.
