Greyton Winter Classical Music Festival
13 June and 14 June 2009
The annual Greyton Winter Festival on the weekend of 13 and 14 June will have a brand new look this year.
The festival will be called the Greyton Winter Classical Music Festival, and the festival will be a revival of the hugely popular classical music festival we had in Greyton a couple of years ago.
Although the emphasis of the festival will be on music and venues will be restricted to mainly churches and larger venues, the festival will have a “vibey” feel, with events such as the popular morning market one of the main draw-cards.
A couple of top South African artists have already been signed up for the festival.
Popular diva and “Greyton golden girl” Zanne Stapelberg will be performing her sell-out “I want Magic” concert with acclaimed pianist Ean Smit.
Well-known ensemble “Le Belle Voci”, consisting of soprano Beverley Chiat, mezzo-soprano Violina Anguelov, tenor Nicky Cencherle and piano accordian player Stanislav Anguelov also confirmed their participation in the Greyton Winter Classical Music Festival.
Greyton audiences have grown to adore the annual performance of the Cape Town Opera Studio Singers who visit Greyton every year. These talented young opera singers will be performing again during the Greyton Winter Classical Music Festival.
Five concerts will be presented over two days, and artists will present a program varying from “more serious to lighter classical music”, something for every taste.
Local talent will also the opportunity to participate in the festival.
More about the other performers will be posted on the website at a later stage.
